Terms of Service
Last updated: April 12, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Lorelio (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, or use the App. These Terms are entered into between you and Kiran Karthikeyan, operating as Lorelio, located at Bangalore, Karnataka, India (“Lorelio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). You may contact us at legal@lorelio.app.
2. Description of Service
Lorelio is a mobile application that helps users create personal life stories through AI-guided voice interviews. The App uses on-device artificial intelligence to generate interview questions, transcribe speech, synthesize narration, and produce autobiography prose. All AI processing occurs entirely on your device. No content is sent to external servers for processing. Your story syncs securely to your private iCloud account for backup and multi-device access.
The App depends on compatible Apple hardware and software, sufficient local device storage, microphone access, and iCloud availability. Performance of on-device AI features may vary depending on your device model, available memory, and operating system version. Lorelio does not guarantee that the App will function on all devices or configurations.
3. Eligibility
Lorelio is designed for adults. By using the App, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18, you may not use the App.
4. User Content and Ownership
You retain full ownership of all content you create using the App, including voice recordings, transcripts, photographs, facts, and the resulting life story. Lorelio does not claim any ownership or intellectual property rights over your content.
By using the App, you grant Lorelio a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, revocable licence to store, process, transform, transcribe, sync, back up, display, restore, and export your content solely as necessary to operate the App and provide its features on your devices and via Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit services. This licence exists only for the purpose of delivering the App’s functionality to you. It terminates when you delete your content or remove the App.
5. Third-Party Content and Permissions
Life stories often include references to other people, including family members, friends, and acquaintances. They may also include photographs of others or accounts of shared experiences.
By using the App, you represent and warrant that you have the necessary rights, permissions, and lawful basis to include any third-party personal data, names, likenesses, images, voice references, or stories in the content you create. You are solely responsible for ensuring that the content you create, export, or share does not violate the privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party.
6. Privacy and Data
Your content is stored on your device and synced securely to your private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit technology. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. Lorelio does not operate cloud servers or databases that store your content. Apple stores and protects your data under your Apple ID. Your content syncs across all devices signed into the same Apple ID. Lorelio requires iCloud to function. You are responsible for maintaining adequate iCloud storage for your content.
Because Lorelio does not store your data on its servers, we have no ability to access, recover, or restore your content. If you delete the App without using the “Delete My Story” feature, if your iCloud data becomes unavailable, or if you lose access to your Apple ID, your life story may be permanently lost and cannot be recovered by Lorelio.
Lorelio supports one life story per Apple ID. This is a product limitation. If you wish to start a new story, you must first delete your existing story using the “Delete My Story” feature in Settings.
See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.
7. Multi-Device Usage
Lorelio supports using your story across multiple devices signed into the same Apple ID. To prevent conflicts, only one device can make edits at a time. Other devices can browse and read your story in read-only mode.
8. AI-Generated Content
The App uses on-device AI models to generate interview questions, transcribe your speech, and produce written prose based on your spoken responses. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, misinterpretations, or errors. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all content generated by the App before sharing or exporting it. Lorelio does not guarantee the factual accuracy, completeness, or quality of any AI-generated output.
9. Subscriptions and Payments
9.1 Tiers
Lorelio offers a free tier with limited sessions and a premium tier with unlimited sessions, unlimited photos, and AI chapter polish and rewrites. Lorelio also offers a one-time Life Story purchase option.
9.2 Billing and Renewal
Premium subscriptions and Life Story purchases are billed through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple’s terms of sale. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current billing period. Subscription management, renewal, and cancellation are handled through your Apple ID settings. Billing timing and renewal processing are controlled by Apple. Prices may vary by region and are displayed in your local currency before purchase. Apple may notify you of price changes and continued use after renewal at the new price constitutes acceptance. We do not receive or store your payment details.
9.3 Free Trial
The annual subscription includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Free trial eligibility is determined by Apple and your offer terms. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial period ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the displayed price.
9.4 Expiration
When a subscription expires, you retain full access to read, browse, and export all existing content. You will not be able to start new interview sessions or use AI processing features until you resubscribe.
9.5 Refunds
Refund requests for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Lorelio does not process refunds directly. To request a refund, visit Apple’s support page or use your Apple ID purchase history. Nothing in this section limits any statutory consumer remedies available to you under the laws of your jurisdiction.
9.6 Life Story Purchase Terms
“Life Story” refers to a one-time purchase that grants unlimited access to the features designated as Premium for as long as Lorelio continues to operate the app and make it available through the Apple App Store. Life Story access is subject to the following:
(a) Operational continuity. Lorelio may discontinue the app for any reason, including but not limited to business closure, technical infeasibility, or changes in Apple’s platform. If the app is discontinued, Life Story access necessarily ends with it. In the event of discontinuation, any pro-rata refund or alternative remedy will be determined in accordance with applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction. Lorelio does not guarantee refunds beyond what such law requires.
(b) Compatibility and device support. Life Story access requires a compatible Apple device running a supported version of iOS or iPadOS. As Apple releases new operating systems and retires older ones, older devices may lose compatibility with the app. Lorelio is not obligated to support indefinitely every device or iOS version on which the app was originally usable. You are responsible for maintaining a compatible device.
(c) Feature changes and new features. The set of features included in your Life Story purchase is defined at the time of purchase. Lorelio may add, modify, or remove features over time. Material features included at the time of your purchase will continue to be available to you within supported versions of the app, subject to technical feasibility. Lorelio may introduce entirely new features or separately priced products (including but not limited to print-on-demand services, voice cloning, family sharing, or other future offerings) that are not included in your Life Story purchase.
(d) Third-party dependencies. The app relies on third-party services including Apple iCloud and CloudKit, the Apple App Store, and on-device AI models. If any of these services become unavailable, change their terms, or are discontinued, the affected features may become unavailable. Lorelio is not liable for such changes.
(e) Support. Lorelio provides reasonable customer support for Life Story purchasers on supported app versions. Support is not guaranteed indefinitely for versions of the app that have been superseded by newer releases, nor for devices or operating systems that Apple no longer supports.
(f) Non-transferability. Life Story access is tied to your Apple ID and is not transferable. Family Sharing, if and when enabled, follows Apple’s standard Family Sharing rules.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App to create content that is illegal, defamatory, or infringes on the rights of others
- Create content that impersonates another person or misrepresents authorship of a life story
- Use exported content to harass, stalk, or violate the privacy or publicity rights of any third party
- Upload content that is unlawful, abusive, or that you do not have the right to include
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the AI models or source code
- Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the App’s functionality
- Redistribute or commercially exploit the App’s AI models
- Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to interact with or extract data from the App
- Circumvent any security, authentication, or access-control features of the App
- Use the App in any jurisdiction where its use is prohibited by applicable law or sanctions
11. Export and Sharing
The App allows you to export your life story as PDF or other formats and to share individual chapters. Exporting and sharing content is at your sole direction and risk. Once content leaves the App through export or sharing, it is no longer protected by the App’s security features or iCloud encryption. Lorelio has no control over how exported content is used, stored, or distributed by third-party apps, services, or recipients.
12. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, AI models, and branding, is the intellectual property of Lorelio and its licensors. Certain AI models and libraries used in the App are open-source software, licensed under their respective terms. See the Open Source Licences section within the App for details.
13. Emotional Safety Disclaimer
Lorelio includes AI-powered emotional safety features designed to detect and respond sensitively to distressing topics during interviews. However, these features are limited and may fail to detect distress, may respond inappropriately, or may not cover all situations.
Lorelio is not a therapeutic, medical, or counselling tool. The App is not designed for crisis response, emergency monitoring, suicide prevention, clinical diagnosis, treatment planning, or medical decision-making. The App does not provide professional advice of any kind. If you are experiencing emotional distress or are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or crisis helpline in your area.
14. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Lorelio and its developers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the App; (b) your content, including any claims that content you create, export, or share using the App infringes the rights of or defames any third party; or (c) your violation of these Terms. This section does not apply to the extent prohibited by the consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Lorelio and its developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, emotional distress, or inaccuracies in AI-generated content.
Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising under or in connection with these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars ($50.00), whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for: (a) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (b) death or personal injury caused by negligence; (c) any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including non-waivable statutory consumer rights.
16. Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights or remedies that you have under mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction that cannot be contractually waived or limited. Where any provision of these Terms conflicts with a non-waivable consumer right under applicable law, that provision shall be read as modified to the minimum extent necessary to comply with that law.
17. Data Deletion and Retention
You may delete your entire story from all devices at any time using the “Delete My Story” feature in Settings.
Deletion removes all interview sessions, transcripts, photographs, facts, chapters, and related story data from your device and from your iCloud account. Deletion propagates to other devices signed into the same Apple ID via iCloud. The speed of propagation depends on each device’s connectivity and sync state; devices that are offline at the time of deletion will be updated the next time they connect.
After deletion, your basic profile information (name and date of birth) is retained on your device’s local storage and in your iCloud account so that you can start a new story without repeating onboarding. This information is not stored on any Lorelio servers. You may remove this data entirely by deleting the App and managing your iCloud storage through Apple’s settings.
If you delete the App without first using “Delete My Story,” your story data remains in your iCloud account until you reinstall the App and use the deletion feature, or until you manage your iCloud storage directly through Apple’s settings.
18. Changes to Features
Lorelio may add, modify, or remove features from the App from time to time, including experimental or AI-powered features. Feature availability may vary by device, operating system version, language, region, and subscription tier. We will endeavour to communicate significant feature changes through App Store release notes or in-app notices.
19. Termination
You may stop using the App and delete it at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your access to premium features if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, or for legal, security, fraud, abuse, or platform-related reasons. Where practicable, we will provide notice before or at the time of suspension or termination. Termination of premium access does not automatically delete your local or iCloud content.
Sections 4 (User Content and Ownership), 5 (Third-Party Content), 12 (Intellectual Property), 14 (Indemnification), 15 (Limitation of Liability), 16 (Consumer Rights), 17 (Data Deletion), and 25 (Contact) shall survive termination of these Terms.
20. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this document will reflect the most recent revision. For material changes, including changes to pricing, auto-renewal terms, dispute resolution, or data handling, we will provide notice through the App or the App Store before the changes take effect. Where required by applicable law, material changes will apply only with your affirmative consent. Continued use of the App after non-material changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
21. Force Majeure
Lorelio shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to changes to Apple’s iCloud, CloudKit, or App Store services; natural disasters; internet disruptions; or government actions.
22. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
The following provisions apply based on your location.
22.1 United States
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Binding Arbitration: You and Lorelio agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration shall take place in the county where you reside, or at your election, by telephone or video conference.
Class Action Waiver: You and Lorelio agree that disputes shall be resolved on an individual basis only. Neither party may participate in a class action, class arbitration, or any other representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate proceedings or preside over any form of representative or class proceeding.
Small Claims Exception: Either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court in the county where you reside, provided the claim remains in small claims court and proceeds on an individual basis.
30-Day Opt-Out: You may opt out of this arbitration provision by sending written notice to legal@lorelio.app within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. The notice must include your name, mailing address, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out of arbitration. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Warranty disclaimers, liability limitations, and termination provisions in these Terms are subject to and do not override your mandatory consumer rights.
22.4 Australia
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Australia. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010). Where these Terms conflict with the Australian Consumer Law, the Australian Consumer Law prevails.

22.7 European Union and European Economic Area
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection provisions of the law of your country of residence that cannot be overridden by contract. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland, except where mandatory local law grants jurisdiction to the courts of your country of residence.
You have the right to erasure of your personal data, which you can exercise at any time using the “Delete My Story” feature in Settings. For digital content purchased through the App Store, your right of withdrawal is governed by Apple’s refund policies. For further information about your data protection rights, see our Privacy Policy.
22.8 All Other Regions

23.2 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lorelio regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
23.3 Waiver
The failure of Lorelio to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver of any term shall not be deemed a waiver of any other term.
23.4 Assignment
Lorelio may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, without restriction. You may not assign or transfer any rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
24. Apple App Store Additional Terms
